PROJECT: Kitchen Remodel
LOCATION: Alpharetta, GA
EXISTING CONDITION: 20-year-old, outdated kitchen
CUSTOMER'S REQUEST: This customer was unhappy with the dated appearance of their kitchen, so they wanted a remodel that would not only bring in more light, but would also add a new sense of functionality to the room. One of their requests involved increasing the space over their stove, so they wanted the microwave moved to another location, but they also wanted us to remove the 42-inch tall bar top so that their island would be one level. Additionally, in an effort to incorporate the family room into the kitchen, they wanted the interior of the home to be painted in congruent colors while rounding the project out with a new lighting scheme for the stairs.
PROCESS: Customer met with our cabinet, granite, tile and appliance vendors while we began the kitchen demolition. Once their selections were made, we began to reinstall the kitchen per our new specifications, which included moving the microwave to its new location and building a cabinet for it. We also incorporated some nice upgraded features to the cabinets such as an over-the-stove bump-out cabinet, 3-inch crown moldings, light rails, and soft-close door and drawer bumps.
As requested, we made sure the island was all one height and added additional base cabinet room by moving the dishwasher and sink. To add a bit more ambiance to the room, we also added pendant lights and under-cabinet lights, and by making the island a similar color to the family room built-ins, we were able to bring the feel of an original build to the home.
Stair lighting was also added, which provided more light and design appeal, and the painted interior brought a fresh look to the entire space.
The customer was extremely pleased with the results and is planning to have us return to reinstall her driveway and to finish her master bathroom.
