Post-Sale Remodel: Kitchen, Stairs, Balusters

PROJECT: Post-Sale Remodel: Kitchen, Stair Balusters, and Hardwood Floors

LOCATION: Cumming

EXISTING CONDITION: The property's grading was too steep, there was no access to backyard, and the home lacked a deck from which to view the lake.

CUSTOMER'S REQUEST: This customer had recently purchased the home and wanted it to have a more Tuscan-style design prior to moving in. She wanted us to completely renovate the kitchen, while also removing some of the home's carpet in an effort to refinish the existing hardwood floors, and to replace the standard stair rails with iron balusters and a refinished railing that will match the darker stained floors.

PROCESS: After demolishing the entire kitchen and leaving only the floor, we removed the carpet in the family room and matched the existing hardwoods. We then sanded the entire first level and stained the hardwoods in a darker color, before sealing and coating them with two coats of poly.

In regards to the stairs, we removed the entire handrail system, sanded the existing handrails and stained them to match the floor, and then installed a unique decorative pattern of wrought iron balusters.

To finish the kitchen, the customer met with our cabinet, tile, and appliance vendors and after making her selections, gave the go-ahead to rebuild the kitchen with her new selections. To add to the Tuscan theme, we added a beautiful tile design above the stove and some decorative pendant lights over the island, which led to a beautiful finished product that the customer was extremely happy about.
